The Post Office Godzilla
So there I was today, waiting patiently in line at the local post office. I was the second in a long line of people behind me - 6 to be exact. While checking for emails on my iPhone, I hear this voice, inches away from my ear, say, “This is ridiculous! I waited in the package pick up line for 10 minutes only to be told to come over to this line and now I’m waiting another 10 minutes!”
The man in front of me turns around and says, “Yeah, this is insane how long it’s all taking.” Finding myself in the middle of this ’Godzilla’ conversation I stepped away from the two of them so they could go at it without me being a part of their energy. Boy did they have a field day for another minute or so until the woman says, “That’s it, I’m leaving! I’ve been here for 20 minutes and I won’t stand it for another second!”
Then the man says, “I don’t blame you! She turns and walks away and I watch him watching her leave, then looking back to the one clerk behind the counter. Suddenly he says, “I’m outta here, too!” and off he goes leaving me first in line. Whoo hoo!
Here’s the reality – the total time either of them were in the post office was maybe 5-7 minutes because we all got there around the same time.
Would you like to know what had me cracking up right after they left? Two more clerks came to the counters and the line began moving really fast.
We’ve heard it before and I’ll say it again - our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. Are you always in a rush or do you have time to spare? Do you believe the world is a safe place or a dangerous place? Are people friendly or not? Are people trustworthy or not? Do you see more joy or anger in your world?
It’s pretty clear the kind of world that lives inside this man and woman.
Thank you Katie K. for the inspiration while I was in line.
NB: a Godzilla, as I call it, is a monster…you know, that monster that sometimes comes out…when we are angry, negative, not centered..you know…

You are such a good writer. Very impressive.
Thanks for the comment Heaji, your sister inspired me so much that day that it turned out that way at the post office! My grateful thanks to her for that. Nick
